Luxury Wishlist 2017

Wishlists have got to be one of my most popular and requested posts/ videos. Truth be told, I LOVE creating wishlists and would do them even if I didn’t have a blog or channel so I don’t mind one bit although my preference is always for a blog posts vs. videos. For some reason my video ones always seem a bit rushed whereas my blog posts generally are ‘created’ (definitely too fancy a term haha) over a longer period of time, which I think makes the wishlist more accurate/ less prone to randomness! Anywho, this is what I’m lusting over at the moment and what I hope to add to my collection in 2017.

1. Saint Laurent Kate Tassel Bag // 2. Gucci Marmont Nude // 3. Gucci Belt // 4. Chanel Ballet Flats
// 5. Louis Vuitton Kimono Wallet // 6. Chanel Wallet // 7. Burberry Heart Scarf // 8. Louis Vuitton Capucines

The list isn’t a massive one because I have at least one other big financial priority for 2017 that I’ll be saving for but this being me, it also isn’t the smallest list either!

I have 3 bags on this list, only one of which I have mentioned before. The Capucines has come on and off my wishlist more times than I can count which is probably a sign in itself that I shouldn’t go for it. I really like the look and I like it more everytime I see it in real life. What I can’t stomach is the cost which I realised with horror, is more than I have spent on any bag – ever (I bought my Chanel jumbos before all the price increases)! I don’t like the Capucines more than I do more my Chanel Jumbo (my most expensive bag), but I also realise I’m not living in 2011 and that prices go up. I will continue to um and ah and bore you all with my debate on this one!

The other two bags are both mini bags which I had sworn off in the latter part of 2016. After having acquired more tote/ generally functional bags to last a lifetime though, I’ve eased up a little and am allowing myself to explore the fun world of minis again! I love a tassel and while I’m not a fan of all of Saint Laurent’s designs, I find the Kate bag absolutely adorable. And, after initially resisting and dismissing the Gucci Marmont, it has won me over big time. I LOVE my black one and would love something else from the line in their gorgeous nude colour. I’ve been visiting the line in store a lot and am still dithering about the styles – camera bag or another flap? Mini or small or medium? Decisions, decisions!

As for other accessories, I’d love a Gucci belt and have been eyeing this gorgeous Burberry heart print scarf in either red or black. This is also the year that I hope to acquire some Chanel ballet flats – I tried some on at Heathrow in November but I couldn’t get on board with the particular shade of nude – not at all flattering for my skin tone. Hopefully I’ll come across a colour combination that I like.

Finally, I’d like a new everyday wallet. Ideally the size would sit between my LV ZCP and Insolite wallet which made me think that a Chanel French wallet could be the answer. However, I couldn’t find any that fit the bill when I visited a boutique so I’m wondering if they’ve discontinued this size? The wallet pictured above isn’t quite what I’m after (although I would go for caviar after my nightmare with the larger lambskin wallet I owned) as it’s too large but I couldn’t for the life of me find a photo of the size I wanted – sadly I suspect this might be because they don’t make it anymore but I will continue to search 🙂

Another option is to go for the Louis Vuitton Kimono wallet. I hesitate because it’s so similar to my Insolite but I LOVE the look of it which keeps on drawing me back.

And that’s it for my wishlist for 2017! No doubt it will change next week but this is what I’m window shopping and contemplating at the moment 🙂 What’s on your wishlist for the coming year?

Amie, I have noticed that you either go for black or nude / pale pink bags with just a few exceptions of course. What about brown, camel, navy, burgundy or a multicolored bag?
Don't you feel you have a lot of options for the same kind of look? Just curious. Thanks

    • 1.12.17

Hi Serena! I think for brown or camel, you really need to wear boots or belts that tie the look together and I don't own many of these which is why I tend to stay away. I own a clutch in navy and a bag in burgundy and like them both a lot but overwhelmingly I've found when I branch out to other colours, I find myself reaching for them less. I've owned all sorts of coloured bags in the past (except green – I don't I've ever owned a green bag!) and have always ended up not using and then ultimately selling them. By sticking with a fairly neutral colour palette (or at least one that I know works with my wardrobe), I know I'll get use of them 🙂

Thank you for answering Amie, you are so kind and it makes perfect sense what you say. 🙂

Ohh, I know what you mean about the Capucines. I really like the look of the bag – so classic! But really? More than 3000 GBP (3500 EUR) for a small bag?! I can't help but compare it to a Mulberry (the new zipped Bayswater is lovely, and "only" 1000 GBP), or the Celine Mini Belt Bag (~1500 GBP?), and I can't really see what about the Capucines should make it more than double the price.
Also, as my wife would say – it's not secure enough! (She's a big fan of secure flaps or zips :P)!

    • 1.12.17

Haha love it! I often forget about actual practicality when looking at these bags! If only it was around the £2000 mark (which is still SO expensive!), I'd be much more inclined. But for £3K+ I'm just not sure I can stomach it!

Haha! After looking at Chanel or LV leather bags for too long, I go to other brands and start thinking "Oh it's only 1500!" and then I have to slap myself and be reminded that it's still a heck of a lot of money 😉 I'm still saving for a bag, but I'll drop by and ask for your advice before blowing it on something! 😀

    • 1.13.17

This made me LOL! I do the same. Chanel normalises prices to such a crazy extent – but then I suppose anything seems a bargain if you're comparing it to a £4,500 bag! And happy to give advice whenever I can! Good luck with your saving! 🙂

I found myself nodding along as I read this blog post. Loved the written debate about the Louis Vuitton Capucines bag- I have the same debate in my mind constantly every time I think about buying a new bag. By the way I think the Chanel wallet you are talking about is referred to by a lot of people as the Chanel L Zip wallet (I cannot attach an image however just input it into google).
Happy 2017! Look forward to more amazing posts and videos <3

    • 1.13.17

Yes it is! Thank you! I tried to find one at Heathrow and then just had very small or very large wallets. Hopefully they're still making this 🙂

What are your thoughts on the Meli Melo brand? I am thinking about purchasing the Thela medium satchel which retails for $725. It gives me the same feel as the Celine belt bag. Or do you think I should save up for the Celine? Meli Melo is not a popular brand in the US but it does have a good following in Europe. Any insight would be awesome.

    • 1.13.17

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that brand at all but I did a quick google and it looks lovely! I'm generally of the opinion that if you want something specific, it's always better to save up for what you want rather than settling. That said, if you're not absolutely set on Celine and just want the look, then it could be a great option! I like my Tory Burch Perry tote more than I do my Saint Laurent – for me, the functionality is the same and I appreciate the value for money the Perry tote offers me. Sometimes you've got to judge on a case by case basis 🙂 Hope this helps!

I maybe leaning towards the gucci bag! I like how it's 'affordable' compared other brands in the luxury community!

I think Gucci nailed the price point – still luxurious but so much more accessible than other brands! 🙂

    Hi Amy,

Excellent list! How about waiting and getting the Capucines on the pre-loved market if you decide you really want it? Then hopefully it would be less expensive than the jumbo!

I love a lot of what you chose! I have rouble finding a mid-size wallet as well, I love my card holders and my zip wallets but sometimes I want something in between! I've been on a search as well. I found a couple of pieces on fashionphile if you're interested:

My preference is generally for Salvatore Ferragamo but I've got both sizes from them already and there isn't one in between yet 🙂

    • 1.13.17

Thanks Jessica! Sadly I can't buy from Fashionphile as the import fees wouldn't make it any cheaper for me but they are great finds! I've been looking for a while on the pre-loved market for the Capucines but I can't seem to find the exact combination I want! I do agree it's probably the way to go though – especially as they don't seem to hold their value that well unfortunately.

I've been lusting after that Gucci belt too but part of me is afraid it's too trendy. Do you think it's more of a timeless or trendy piece?

    • 1.13.17

So I think the Gucci Marmont line definitely leans towards 'trendy' rather than timeless – but I do also think the price point reflects this. There are no guaranteed safe bets in the luxury world except for Chanel and Hermes but I think the belt is likely to be one of the least trendy pieces of the line. Logo belts have been around for a while and this is fairly classic in look! 🙂

Thank you for your thoughtful response! That's a good point about the price. You've sold me on the belt. No wonder you're in marketing, lol 🙂

  8. 1.12.17

I LOVE the Capucines bag, but it is crazy expensive! What a gorgeous wish list. I'm looking to buy my first designer bag be love everything Gucci. I love the black Marmont flap a well as the nude from your list, but I also love the understated Nymphaea… I would really love to know what you thought! The other bag I've seen which I loved was the Prada Esplanade in red… Help! Haha

    • 1.13.17

Hi Sonia! They're all quite different bags haha! The Nymphaea is beautiful but I would be a bit concerned about comfort – the handle doesn't look very comfortable to use! Obviously I only own the Marmont which I very much like and I think is at a fairly reasonable price point. I love that it wears very comfortably cross-body as well as on the shoulder which makes it so much more versatile! The Prada is lovely and probably the most classic – I'm not sure about the resale value but if you don't plan to sell it, then it might be a nice option!

    • 1.13.17

Thank you for replying and for the advice! I guess I just need them all right? Haha ❤

  9. 1.13.17

    Hi Amie!

I know it's not on your list but what are your thoughts on the Gucci Dionysus top handle bag in the "orange" red and green color?
(website has the color as orange but its definitely a light beige color.)

    • 1.13.17

Hi Catherine! I think it's a beautiful bag! Very elegant and striking; my only concern would be the top handle looks very uncomfortable to wear!

    • 1.13.17

Thanks so much for your reply! Do you see this as a classic or seasonal bag?

  10. 1.13.17

Last year I bought two pairs of Miu Miu shoes and thanks to my mum I got to buy two pairs because it have good discount and I was suppose to buy only a pair. My luxury wishlist is Chanel flat shoes, Valentino rockstud flats, Gucci Marmount and Chanel classic flap medium or square mini. But I know I won't be able to get this year but I hope I have the chance to get it in the future.

    Hi Amie

Love your channel and blog. What do you think on the YSL College? I know it is similar to the other YSL bag you selected but I was wondering if there was anything that stuck out that made one better then the other. I am currently saving for it and looking for any details on loving or hating the bag.

Hi Amie! I love your luxury wishlist 🙂 The Saint Laurent bag is gorgeous!!!

  14. 1.17.17

I purchased my first Gucci Marmont (a black camera bag) a couple of weeks ago. It is my first Gucci and I wasn't "in love" with it but liked it a lot, wanted to give Gucci a try, and found it at a decent price. Now, like you, I am planning on my second Gucci Marmont bag! I am now in love with it and am ready to add the nude flap bag. Happy 2017!

  15. 1.19.17

A pair (or two) of Chanel flats is definately on my 2017 wish list as well!

  16. 1.19.17

I need a red Chanel WOC and a Speedy B 30 in monogram desperately!

  17. 1.19.17

I love wishlists! Both looking and other peoples lists, and making them myself. I usually have tons of different ones for different things. I can picture you looking stunning (as always) with the Capucines in that shade, but if you're not sure it's definetly a sign! And for that price? Yikes! If it were me I would just save for a Kelly instead, which I've dreamed of for years.

My bag wishlist is as follows: LV Neverfull GM, Balenciaga City mini and/or Gucci Disco, and if this year goes according to plan, a rectangular Chanel mini flap. And of course a Boy, but I'm hoping that will be crossed of the list for my 30th next year.

For shoes, since we're hopefully moving to a place I need to look put together every day: Chanel espadrilles, Gucci Princetown loafers, and another pair of Chanel ballerinas (I wear mine to death at all sorts of occasions and they go with everything! Perfect for moms).

SLGs: Chanel card holder and possibly coin purse, Anya Hindmarch in flight travel case, and both 15 and 19 LV Toiletry pouches. Really been drooling over the Nice BB lately too, but I think that will stay a dream for now.

Great wish list Since I'm going on maternity leave in less than a month…I must control myself with my impulse buying also glad the sales is OVER too

Here's my wish list this year…
    > Balenciaga Town in black ✔️ this I can tick off I'd managed to find one in the sales with 40% discount from the Balenciaga store in Mount Street!
    > Cartier Love bracelet in yellow gold to go with my white gold
    > Chanel Classic Flap in black Caviar SHW medium or jumbo still deciding with the size you're super lucky to have bought yours when you could even though it's still pricey bag but a great investment piece to have
    > Chloe Mini Drew either a grey or black…but when seeing yours is making me want to get it in that blush pink it looks like a perfect bag for this summer

BTW most of these items I'll be buying from Heathrow it's the best way to save on these luxury goodies

With Aquazzura Christy Flats…I've decided to keep only 2 out of the 3 pairs…keeping anthracite & light grey & returning the red one just because I'm sticking to neutral colours just easier to wear.
