Chanel Classic Jumbo… ‘5 Years On’ Review: Wear and Tear, Weight, Value for Money etc!

Sometimes an item becomes so important in your life that you feel the need to celebrate its anniversary – much like you would a relationship or a birthday. For me, that item is my Chanel Jumbo which has now been with me for 5 happy years! I wanted to do a review on the exact date of purchase and whilst I didn’t mange the exact day, I did do the exact week!

If you’re familiar with my channel or blog, you will likely know how much I love this bag. This was and still is, my HG (Holy Grail) bag and I genuinely still can’t think of another bag that trumps it. I get asked a lot of questions about why I don’t own any Hermès bags and a big part of it is that this bag is pretty much ‘it’ for me. So when I look at a Birkin or a Kelly, I find it hard to justify when they cost double, are much more difficult to get and would still come second in terms of preference to my Jumbo. That’s not to say I wouldn’t ever venture into H territory but let’s just say, for now – I am content knowing that I am lucky enough to own my HG Chanel bag.

In terms of wear and tear, I go into a fair bit of detail in the video but I think you’ll agree, this bag has done fantastically well. Another reason that I love it is just how carefree it is. For a bag this luxe, it is nice not to have to baby it – instead, you’re free to enjoy without fear of ruining it.

This is definitely an expensive buy but as I say in the video (and countless times before that!), if I had to only have this bag and my Neverfull, I would be completely happy. It is truly a wonderful piece; super versatile, classically elegant and timeless and wonderfully carefree. If you’re contemplating saving up to get this one, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

I still love it as much today and I did 5 years ago and for someone who is pretty fickle, I think this says a lot 🙂

As always, thank you so much for reading/ watching!

I think it's the sign of a true classic if you love it after many other bag acquisitions!

This bag is absolutely gorgeous. Some day, I hope I'll have the money to afford one. And I think after all those years, it still looks really good!

Hello, I stumbled upon your channel on youtube and I must say that I enjoy all your videos. I just have a quick question, you mentioned that you sold your Maxi and I was just wondering if you can give me tips on how you sold it. I bought a small boy bag last year and although I love it, it's just too small for every day use. Now I think I'm ready for the medium one. But since I paid $4K for it, I just can't justify buying the same bag in a different size so I want to sell it. I'd appreciate any tips that you can give me. Thanks so much and have a nice day!

Hi! Could you kindly do a post on how you take care of your Chanels e.g. leather lotion, cleaning? 🙂

This bag is truly ‘the bag’. I went to Paris a few times, they sold-out the jumbo and had only the medium sized in beige. I was looking for black in shw.
